I have made a lot of unhappy posts here lately - mostly because when it gets so stressful I just have to blog to work through it - so here's one where I'm actually feeling very happy and why. So, happiness is:

20151230_112228
Mad Martigan and I cuddled on the bed.

20160413_072622
Xander and I cuddled on the bed.

Jack and I cuddled on the couch.

Do you sense a theme? :D

The garden is wonderful, even if keeping up with weed pulling feels like an arms race. No pictures here, as I had thought about taking them but I guess I never actually took them. :D But the garden is doing (mostly) really well. The only thing not growing well at the moment is my peppers. They're still only about half an inch tall, if that. It's been too wet, grey, and cold. Everything else is growing fairly well. We have Brussels sprouts, broccoli, tomatoes (most are doing surprisingly well, though one or two are a little stunted like the peppers), radishes, carrots, cucumbers, strawberries, peas and beans, onions, zucchini, asparagus (though it'll be at least three years until we can harvest any), potatoes, blackberries, blueberries, and (possibly - they're still just sticks in the ground) grapes and raspberries.

Knock wood, we may actually get to eat some of this year's harvest. We have it fenced off in metal this year, so no chickens using it as their favorite smorgasbord.

Speaking of chickens, they're doing well. The new layer chicks are getting ready to be moved to the coop with the grown ups. Himself also got me one of the Grandpa's Feeders that I've been wanting for ages. No more fat wild birds and mice, no more feed being dumped on the ground by picky birds, which then ferments when we get this much rain for this long.

I also got out to the Swine, Wine, and Roses festival out at the Conococheague Institute. It was gray and rainy (as it has been for the last month or two), but everyone there was in a great mood. I brought Xander with me and he was wildly popular. People always ask what kind of breed he is and they seem amused when I respond, "100% mutt". Got some BBQ from the Hempen Hill booth there. Hempen Hill is a restaurant about 45 minutes away from us and one of Himself's and my FAVORITE places, though I don't indulge nearly as often as I'd like.

There you go, a happy post.

Love the pictures. The variety of chickens you have is impressive. I need to get pictures up on our herd.
